The European Humanist Federation, an international non-profit organisation registered in Belgium, unites humanist and secularist organizations across Europe. We promote humanism and the secular society, supporting human rights generally and in particular opposing discrimination against non-believers and religious privilege.
We work in the European Union (where we are recognised under ‘Article 17′ as a partner for dialogue), in the European Parliament (and particularly with the EP Platform for Secularism in Politics), and in the Council of Europe. We are especially active in the human rights wing of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, contributing to its conferences and making the case against religious privilege and in favour of democracy and the rule of law. We take up relevant human rights issues with governments and other parties.
We gather and share information, develop policies, maintain an extensive website, publish booklets and hold meetings and conferences. We work with our member organisations and exchanging information and advice, and we collaborate with other groups – including religious organisations – with whom we share goals and interests.
