Margaret Kennedy, a survivor of clergy abuse (Anglican clergyman), is an active campaigner for survivors of clergy abuse. Fifteen years ago she started MACSAS – Minister & clergy sexual abuse survivors UK and ran this organisation up until 2009. During that time she has challenged the Catholic Church (as well as others) for their handling of abuse and treatment of survivors. She was awarded ‘Children’s champion in 2000, and the Emma Humphries award in 2004. She has written widely especially on Disability & Abuse and on Christianity and abuse. As expert on Disability & Abuse she co-edited & co-authored ‘The Abuse of children who are disabled’ published by the Department of Health UK in 2003. In 1999 she authored ‘The Courage to tell; Christian survivors of Clergy abuse’ .In 2009 Margaret Completed her
Doctorate on ‘Clergy Sexual Exploitation of Adult Women’. Margaret frequently appears on television and radio as expert speaker. She now lives in Ireland and is currently setting up MACSAS -Ireland and fundraising for 5 million Euro for a centre of rest and recuperation in Co Wicklow & Ireland for survivors of Clergy sexual abuse.
